The economy is now recovering. The precision machining industry is recovering according to several indicators of sales as an industry, sales growth per company, and hours scheduled across all markets served.
The US Heavy Truck Market is on the mend, up 8.8% in July, and thanks to the EPA 2010 Diesel rules already on the books, we can expect yet another round of cost increases for freight to bring us our raw materials and to ship our products to our customers.
3 reasons we believe that the Precision Machining Industry’s recovery has begun:
1) Sales have leveled off and did not decline further.
2) Half of all participants reported increases in sales for July. One third reported double digit sales increases.
3) Average length of first shift indicator climbed by 1.2 hours in July.
